(Okay, so “Kickstarter-er” is a crap word, but like all things it life, it’s a work in progress.)
This morning, I woke up to a new follower on Twitter (as happens) and a mention to me. The first time someone has spammed me about their RPG Kickstarter. I wasn’t the only one to get that this morning:

Don’t do this. Unsolicited mentions is what spammers do (and I’ve since marked this account as spam).
If I had money in this Kickstarter, I would have pulled it out upon seeing that. It’s one thing to overpromote yourself — people can choose to unfollow you, so it’s effectively opt-in, even if usually a bit much–and something every person who has done a Kickstarter is guilty of, me included. And the Kickstarter messages to backers of one project to go back another is borderline, but you can choose to opt-out of those (if you don’t mind missing other updates). But taking spammer tactics outright is scummy.
The Kickstarter that did this is: Emergence: A Sci-Fi/Fantasy Roleplaying Game. Normally, I would not link to such things, but it’s easy enough to find.
And given how SEO works, it’s not a good thing that a post about them spamming is linked to them. So don’t be a spammer. You lower us all.
