Reverb Gamers Prompt #4
Atlas Games is doing this thing called “Reverb Gamers 2012″, with 31 question prompts to kick off 2012. I’m going to post one up each day, including weekends, throughout January. I invite you to do the same! And check out @ReverbGamers on Twitter or Facebook.
REVERB GAMERS 2012, #4: Are you a “closet gamer?” Have you ever hidden the fact that you’re a gamer from your co-workers, friends, family, or significant other? Why or why not? How did they react if they found out?
Hi, I’m Ryan Fucking Macklin From The Internet. I’m pretty well known because of my ties to gaming. But that’s an easy answer.
I’ve never hidden those elements from my family. They don’t understand it, but they appreciate that I’ve become good at what I do. As for my coworkers, I have never hidden it. I don’t get evangelical, but when I know someone is a gamer of some stripe, I strike up conversation.
For those friends who aren’t gamers, I am also not pushy about it, but I don’t hide it. It would be hard to, since many people look to define others with the question “What do you do?” Since my answer is “game designer,” it’s a little hard to hide after that.
