Atlas Games is doing this thing called “Reverb Gamers 2012″, with 31 question prompts to kick off 2012. I’m going to post one up each day, including weekends, throughout January. I invite you to do the same! And check out @ReverbGamers on Twitter or Facebook.
REVERB GAMERS 2012, #7: How do you pick names for your characters?
I use the now-unavailable UnNamable iOS app. Or the Story Games Names Project. And games with lists of names in them appropriate for that game, like you see in Lady Blackbird, are great.
Sometimes, I’ll have a specific idea in mind, but as I GM often I more need a quick name for a character than one with intentional meaning. Like a superhero character I played in a Truth & Justice game, Mendeleev, whose power was transmuting matter at the atomic level. But for real names, I use UnNamable. Shame you can’t get it anymore.
